If you love a beginner style skincare routine with as few steps as possible, this guide is exactly what you need to follow. This regimen brings simplicity and ease to your morning. Formed with 4 easy steps and products that effortlessly glide onto the skin, each ingredient is gentle on even the most sensitive skin types.
Let’s break down each step to ensure you get the maximum benefit for your skin. There’s no need to have a 7-step routine that takes 10 minutes or more out of your morning. We can do more with less time and less resources!
The cleanser
The cleanser you use requires simple ingredients and shouldn’t be more than $10. For the best results look for a short ingredient list with a gentle exfoliate included like lactic acid. Focusing on exfoliating during cleansing will encourage a brighter and more even complexion. Click this link to see how to make your own gently exfoliating cleanser made with castile soap, rose water, colloidal oats, and benzoate clay.
Targeted treatments
Spot treat your skin after cleansing to get that perfect acne free look. Start by carefully looking for bumps and uneven tones in the skin. This step is essential because it shows the specific areas of the face that need attention. Focusing on these areas will give good results fast. For acne rub one drop of tea tree oil in circular motions into the area. For uneven tones use a facial scrub 2-3 times a week focusing on those darker areas of the skin. For the gentlest exfoliation look for enzymatic scrubs and sugar-based scrubs.
Hydrating the skin
Did you know that Imperfections are harder to spot on moisturized skin? To get a perfect glass complexion lightly press pumpkin seed oil into damp skin. First ensure the skin is damp by misting the face with rose water. Next take 3 to 4 drops of pumpkin seed oil and lightly press into the face. Take one more drop of oil and focus on applying it to dry and textured areas of the skin. This method will work to smooth out dry spots and balance oiliness.
Pro tip: Show those extra dry areas some love by applying a thin layer of Aquaphor to them! Aquaphor is an occlusive and will lock in the benefits of the pumpkin seed oil and rose water.
Applying sun protection
The most important part of a skincare routine for anti-aging is sun protection. Uv radiation from the sun breaks down collagen and elastin in the skin, causing it to lose its strength and flexibility. Simply applying a pea sized amount of sunscreen to the face and neck will shield the skin from these effects. My favorite sunscreen is Black Girl sunscreen. Its jojoba infused formula gives the face a gorgeous glow and never leaves a white cast!
